Met een cd als "A fragile king" op zak, en zeker met het thema waar deze cd rond opgebouwd is - de dood van Gregs vader en zijn verwerkingsproces, is het vrij logisch dat men toch min of meer nieuwsgierig wordt rond bepaalde details die men vrijgeeft via deze emotionele uitbarsting. Onze gezonde nieuwsgierigheid werd gestild via een vraag vanuit de platenfirma die ons het voorstel deed om een interview te doen met Vallenfyre (lees Greg Mackintosh).

In augustus vindt alweer de vierde editie plaats van het ALCATRAZ festival, welke al elk jaar gezegend is met een goede affiche en een sfeer om U tegen te zeggen. Na een ietwat mindere opkomst vorig jaar ging de organisatie wat meer richting hun roots en dat resulteerde in een echte top affiche en wat ons betreft zowat het meest metal getinte festival dit jaar. We hadden traditiegetrouw een gesprek met een van de organisatoren: Filip 'Fille' Nollet.

"Surtur rising" zo heet de nieuwe langspeler van deze u allen bekende Vikingen. De band blijft zoals verwacht trouw aan de roots en levert terug een meesterwerkje af waar de fans van gaan kunnen smullen. Wij hadden een plezante babbel met de sympathieke gitarist Olavi. Ons relaas is helaas iets korter geworden doordat onze opname door de 'fucking' recorder' naar de knoppen is geholpen.

Veel bands in het metal genre uit de eigen regio kennen we niet, maar vorig jaar ontdekten we er met Wizzard toch eentje. Dat was op een gratis festivalletje Wizzfest geheten en de organisator van het festival bleek dan ook nog eens de zanger van Wizzard te zijn. Wizzard is een band die nog lekkere old school hard rock speelt en om de juiste redenen. Met een nieuwe demo in de maak alsook een nieuwe editie van het festival schotelden we de immer sympathieke Wizz enkele vragen voor.

Recently, Shadowgarden released their debut cd. Some members of this band are also active from (the more known band) Draconian, so I was pretty curious about their album. But we'll let Andreas explain more.

ATLANTEAN KODEX

Atlantean Kodex already built a name for themselves. The admirable part of that is that they did that with just one ep in their backpocket ("The pnakotic demos"). Meanwhile we also got treated with another ep ("A prophet in the forest") and a live album ("The annihilation of Koeningshofen") but the most important reason for this interview is their world wide debut on Cruz Del Sur.
