PROMETHIUM

We had to wait for a while for it, but finally it’s here, the third album of these English metallers! Their previous album "Origins" dates back from 2013. From the former (CD) line-up, only two guitarists Dan and Rossi remain. On vocals we meet an old face who has returned to the fold, namely Steve Graham, although he has never previously sung an album with the band. "Faces of war" has become a concept album with the theme war. Promethium also sounds a bit firmer in 2018, but still there is enough room for melody. Steve has good, raw throat, but also proves to be the best on the melodic level on "Shell shock" - the 'calmest' song off the album. So each song is about a war theme, 10 tracks, good for 40 minutes of listening pleasure. What really stands out when listening is the fat solid sound that the CD received. Guitarist Dan Lovett-Horn signed up for the production, and for the mix and mastering they got the help from Curran Murphy (Ex-Annihilator, Shatter Messiah) who also delivers a guestsolo on "Declaration". In the beginning it may take some getting used to the harder and heavier sound of Promethium, but it is still an album that keeps growing and before you know it you are singing/shouting along. Our favorites and recommended listening tips are: "Enemies fate", "P.O.W.", "Shell shock", the sublime "20.21.15" and the powerful title track. Splashing guitar work, heavy thumping bass lines, thunderous drums and Steve's raspy yet melodious voice and the powerful lyrics make "Faces of war" a very strong and entertaining album!
